Welcome to Administrative Tasks.
In this course, you will learn how to monitor your
database, how to manage its physical structure, and how to use the import, export, and loader utilities.
Taken together, the courses in this series teach you how to create and manage an Oracle database.
Course goals
The goal of this course is to teach you the skills to manage the physical aspects of an Oracle database and to teach you about
the most critical performance metrics that you should monitor. After completing the course, you will be able to:
- Monitor critical aspects of your database's performance
- Manage database control files and redo log files
- Place a database into archivelog mode
- Manage tablespaces and data files
- Create and manage rollback segments
- Use the import and export utilities
- Use SQL*Loader to load data from flat files
How you will learn
In this course, you will learn and practice your Oracle skills using several types of applets:
- FlipBooks,
- Diagrams,
- Simulations, and
- Quizzes
There are also a number of exercises allowing you to gain some real-life experience putting
your new skills to practice.
Oracle certification
This course, taken in conjunction with the other four courses in the Oracle8 Database Administration Certification
Series, will prepare you for the following Oracle certification exam:
- IZ0-013, Oracle8: Database Administration
This database administration exam is one of five that you must pass to earn certification as an Oracle8 database administrator.
