You can use the "Monitoring Configuration Wizard" to enable, modify, or repair the monitoring and reporting features in
Microsoft Server 2022, which is a helpful tool for configuring, adjusting, or fixing monitoring and reporting features, making it easier to manage performance and monitor system health.
After installing the server, run the wizard to establish the "initial monitoring configuration" by clicking Configure Monitoring in the "To Do" List,
or by clicking "Set Up Monitoring Reports and Alerts" in the Monitoring and Reporting snap-in in Server Management.
If you need to make changes to the configuration at a later time, run the wizard again.
After you complete the server installation, you can establish the initial monitoring configuration by following these steps:
- Access the "To Do" List:
- Click on Configure Monitoring directly within the "To Do" List that appears after the initial setup.
- Use the Monitoring and Reporting Snap-in:
- Open Server Management and navigate to the Monitoring and Reporting snap-in.
- Select Set Up Monitoring Reports and Alerts.
These steps will guide you through configuring essential monitoring parameters, setting up reports, and enabling alerts to ensure that your server is ready for active monitoring and management from the outset.
Based upon your selections, the Monitoring Configuration Wizard will perform one or more of the following actions:
Configure report settings that enable you to view server performance and usage reports.
- Create a default set of critical alert notifications.
- Changes the service state of Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) from disabled to automatic.
- Enable Task Scheduler and add tasks to collect report data and send reports.
- Install the Web Usage Logging Service.
- Enable logging for Internet Information Services (IIS), which is used to collect information about Outlook Web Access usage,
Routing and Remote Access, Exchange, and Fax.
- Send confirmation of your monitoring configuration settings to e-mail recipients.
