This course introduces you to the newest features introduced in Oracle, which is designed to help you get better database performance.
This course covers improvements in Oracle for
indexes,
queries,
the query optimizer;
the use of index-organized tables;
Advanced Queuing.
In addition, Oracle includes a new feature called materialized views that can significantly improve the performance of some queries, such as data warehouse summary queries. Taken in conjunction with the other courses within this series, this course will prepare you to pass the Oracle Administrators certification exam. Along the way, you will work on a series of course projects and exercises that will give you a chance to put your new skills to use in the context of actual business scenarios.
Oracle Backup Recovery Course goals
After completing the course, you will be able to:
Identify elements of Oracle's Recovery Manager (RMAN)
Describe the new backup strategies available with Oracle
Describe other improvements for backup and recovery tasks
Identify tasks that can be performed with Enterprise Manager (regarding backup and recovery)
Start up RMAN and explore its features
Use RMAN to discover backup features of the database
Use line command RMAN and RMAN (GUI tool) to recover a failed database
Identify advantages and components of fast-start recovery
Describe the effect checkpoint parameters and checkpoint command have on recovery
Implement parallel rollback with the fast-start feature
Set up a standby database and start up a read-only database
Describe the improvements in export and import
